We just took the single biggest step in our tiny house journey…purchasing the trailer we want to build on!
We had gotten our engineered trailer plans a few weeks ago and have been getting quotes from several manufacturers ever since. After checking out all of our options we finally decided to go with a custom Great Northern Trailer.
The trailer comes with a lifetime warranty, LED lighting, industrial black paint, and brakes. This will allow us to get the trailer licensed and move the house safely once it’s built.
The estimated build time for the trailer is 4 – 6 weeks, so we hope to have the trailer by the end of January. This component of the build is by far the most expensive and technically demanding, so to have this part taken care of is huge. It feels so much more real now.
I am super excited to start building, so waiting more than a month to start the next step will be hard. I keep reminding myself that the wait will be worth it to have a solid foundation to build from.
We will keep you posted on our progress in the meantime. Maybe we will find some awesome reclaimed building materials while we wait.
